All of us at First United Church are excited to extravagantly welcome our new Interim Pastor, Reverend Marie Siroky!
Rev. Marie Siroky’s calling to ministry began from childhood in Gary, Indiana, shaped by family’s strong faith and commitment to the community.
She earned her BS in Elementary Education, Magna Cum Laude from Chestnut Hill College in Pennsylvania where she taught in the inner city of Philadelphia. After receiving her Masters in Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, she served as Pastoral Associate of First Congregational UCC, completed her Clinical Pastoral Education at Riley Hospital for Children and residency at St. Vincent Health, all in Indianapolis.
She was ordained in the Indiana Kentucky Conference in 2012, is a Board Certified Chaplain, Associate Minister at Trinity United Church of Christ Gary, and serves on both the HIV/AIDS UCAN and Environmental Justice Ministries of the United Church of Christ.
She is a board member of the Indiana Religious Coalition for Reproductive Justice and a member of the Northwest Indiana Federation of Interfaith Clergy; organizations which respect diverse faith beliefs.
All of this is only possible through a personal relationship with God, the prayers and guidance from the congregation, and the support of a loving spouse. Rev. Marie and her wife CJ were married at Faith UCC Iowa City, and have been together over 26 years. CJ is a retired chemist from Eli Lilly. Adhering to the norm of pastor’s spouse CJ might join the choir but will always cook for the potlucks.
Starting the first week in September Reverend Siroky will be keeping regular office hours. In the meantime, if you would like to schedule a time to meet or talk with Reverend Siroky, please call the office (574) 936-3010 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
